An extra dose of gratitude

This Nurses Week, I am grateful for YOU, Sigma nurses.

There is no way to adequately thank you for all you do every day, but this week I offer you an extra dose of gratitude!

Gratitude for your caring expertise

You make a career of caring for others that demonstrates exceptional courage, competence, and compassion. And your care is based on an astonishing depth and breadth of knowledge and technical proficiency.

Gratitude for the lives you touch

You make a difference in the lives of others every day—to patients, caregivers, families, students, colleagues, friends, and others you may never know. Your impact is amplified by everyone touched through your work as a nurse.

Gratitude for the profession you enrich

You are part of something big. There are nearly 30 million nurses and midwives in the world, making up half of the global health workforce. You and your colleagues are critically important to all aspects of global healthcare.

I am grateful for all these aspects of your amazing work, in part because I know how hard it can be. There’s a saying: It’s the hard that makes it great. And you, my friends and colleagues—you make nursing great!

On behalf of the Sigma International Board of Directors, staff, and membership,
Happy Nurses Week and Happy International Nurses Day!

With an extra dose of gratitude for your love, courage, and honor and continuing to Be Bold,

Kenneth Dion, PhD, MSN, MBA, RN, RCSI, FAAN
2021-2023 Sigma President
